…u?g?l?y?
…ugly-
ugly?
an ugly soul, yes-
but not your face-
but not your beautiful face-
what power have we given,
that must be taken back?
society is not your God.
society is not my God.
why have we forgotten?
ugly-
ugly??
an ugly act, yes.
but not your skin-
but not your beautiful skin-
as there is no ugly child-
no ugly girl-
no ugly boy-
no ugly woman-
no ugly man-
no ugly individual-
God does not mold such a term.
ugly-
ugly???
ugly truth, yes-
ugly lie, yes-
but nothing more-
nothing more at all-
no ugly skin-
no ugly hair-
no ugly freckles-
no ugly bodies-
no ugly faces-
…no ugly you-
ugly-
ugly????
ugly spirits, yes-
but not that smile-
not that beautiful, as is smile-
oh what power have we given?
oh what message must we now enforce?
as what is not for one,
can be falling flowers to another-
and beauty not seen by many,
could be the glorious breathtaking view to others’-
so if not the ugly soul-
if not the ugly act-
if not the ugly truth or lie-
and if not the ugly spirit-
how dare we define one as such?
like all don’t drift to dust in the end-
so you my darling are not the ugly one-
a billion tongues could yell it,
and it still not become you-
and it still not claim you-
because no human has the power to do so-
not one my darling-
not one-
not even one-
even when love seems impossible-
even when you don’t feel seen-
you are worth love-
you are worth the view-
and today is the day we find us-
and today is the day we embrace the reflection we’ve neglected-
and today we deny the physical flaws;
because they fail to exist-
as we deserve to be loved,
in the perfect package we are-
or the bedazzled one we’re happiest in-
but most of all;
today is the day,
we end the improper use
of a misguided word-
an ugly soul, yes!
an ugly act, yes!
an ugly truth, yes!
an ugly spirit, yes!
but nothing more-
nothing more at all!
oh what power have we given,
that must be taken back?!
society is not your God!
society is not my God!
why oh why
have we forgotten?
…no ugly you-
shame on us all.
